More Things I Covet: Guerlain Liu Holiday Collection

Tuesday, September 18th, 2012
By Glinda

Inspired by a classic Guerlain perfume, the Liu Holiday collection is pretty eye-catching.

Shimmer powder, loving the pouf.

Ooooh…

Look! Pressed Meteorites!

Want the gold.

Luxe-looking, isn’t it?

The collection launches in October.

Things I Covet: Dior Grand Bal Holiday Collection

I don’t know about you, but the picture of the nail polish almost makes me want to drink it.  It’s like I’m mesmerized and can’t take my eyes off of it.  Probably some sort of subliminal advertising.  But I’d still buy it.

Things I Covet: Estee Lauder’s Violet Underground Collection

By Glinda

I have to admit it has been a long time since Estee Lauder made me excited about any of their products, but this collection is the exception.

Out for Fall of 2012, Violet Underground features a palette, lipstick, lip gloss and nail polish in varying shades of purple.

Have I mentioned that I adore purple?

Many people think they can’t wear purple eyeshadow because they feel like they end up looking like they have a black eye.  But I am of the personal opinion that it all comes down to proper primer around the eyes, making sure your eyelids and the skin around your eyes matches the rest of your skin as closely as possible.  Heck, maybe even a shade lighter.  I wear Three Custom Color’s Eyeshadow Trio for Green Eyes which is comprised of various shades of purple, and I have yet to have anyone mistake me for an incompetent boxer.

Which is another way of saying I wouldn’t even use it, I would just open up the case and stare at it every day.

Things I Covet: Rita Hazan Foaming Gloss

By Glinda

I want this product, but only if it works.  And based on the reviews, it either works fantastically or not at all.

I have always been of the opinion that my hair has lacked in the shine department.

It is probably fine, especially as I rarely blow dry my hair and don’t really do anything to damage it.

But I’ve always turned super green with envy when I see someone’s hair that is just beautifully glossy.  I’ve never worked up the nerve to ask anyone if their hair is naturally that way or if they used a product to achieve the look.

I also know that you can get a glossing treatment at the salon, but I already spend enough money on the color and cut as it is.

I’m keen on the Foaming Gloss because you use it in the shower instead of having product in your hair all day long.

Does anyone use a particularly great treatment?  Do share…

Things I Covet: The Brush Guard

Thursday, June 7th, 2012
By Glinda

I like to keep my makeup brushes clean.

Because really, if I don’t, I start to break out, so I’ve got more than just germophobia going on.

And I have always been a bit squicked out because my bathroom vanity gets dusty, and as a fairly logical human being, I assume it is going on my brushes as well.  However, I don’t wash my brushes as often as I would like.  My intentions are good, but life gets in the way sometimes.

Earlier today, I stumbled upon a little product called The Brush Guard. Now supposedly they are to be used when cleaning your brushes in order for them to keep their shape, but I have visions of keeping these suckers on all the time, except when I’m actually using the brushes.

I figure I can simply get some small hair elastics or some twist ties, tie the tops of those suckers up, and I’m good to go.

Yay.

Things I Covet: Chanel Collection Paris-L.A. Palette

By Glinda

That right there? It looks mighty tempting.

Chanel’s multi-use palette, dubbed Paris-L.A., consists of 2 lip glosses, 1 lip color, 3 powder eyeshadows, 2 cream concealers, 1 cream blush and custom applicators. I’m not  sure why they are touting the applicators, as most people usually throw them out. The colors seem a bit too fall-ish, but if they work for you, it seems like the perfect travel palette.

Not that I’m doing much traveling lately, but even if I were, I’d probably balk at the price tag.

LOOK AT IT!  JUST LOOK AT IT!

Is it kitschy and over-the-top and completely unnecessary?

Of course! That’s why I want it!

Things I Covet: Guerlain’s Rouge Automatique

By Glinda

God, I am a total sucker for gimmicks like the capless, only one hand needed for application lipstick from Guerlain.

Why, of course I can think of a thousand different situations where I would only be able to use one hand to apply my lipstick!

While holding my toddler!  While driving!  While romantically holding my husband’s hand as we walk in the park!  While playing Angry Birds! While, uh, typing! And drinking!

Ok, you’ve got me.

But I still want it.

Things I Covet: One Nighty Nite Tonic Facial Mask

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011
By Glinda

I’m always afraid to try new skin products because sometimes my face totally freaks out.  I never know when it’s going to happen, and since I have a horrible track record about returning things, I’m hesitant to make a big purchase.

However.

One Nighty Nite Tonic Facial Masks are eco-friendly, travel-friendly, and most importantly, have an extremely budget-friendly price.

Sold only online at Target.
