I got an email today about this new Sephora “nature inspired” palette.  Right now only V.I.B’s (Very Important Beauty Insider=You spend entirely too much money at Sephora)  can purchase it, so I went to look and see what the fuss was about.

Well, when I looked in the comments section, there are a bunch of annoyed V.I.B’s who learned that other (we assume randomly selected, although no one will cop out) V.I.B’s got this palette for free and are giving it wonderful reviews.

The non-comped people are saying that of course the freebie-receivers are only saying nice things about it, presumably in the hope that they will continue getting free things.  Some of them are even saying that since Sephora was so unfair in their goodie distribution process, they will boycott the product altogether.

Hmmm.

I can sort of see their point, but really, it’s just a palette, people!  It certainly wasn’t possible to send a free one to every single V.I.B., and as long as the process was random, I guess I’m OK with it.

Jennifer Lopez, who is normally very beautiful, was apparently shoved into a janitor’s closet and had her makeup applied by a nearsighted ten year old.

Kudos to the young lass for at least not messing up that waterline, (thanks, SarahDances!) hideous as it may be.

39% of you think Christina Ricci’s Met Gala outfit is the best of the cray-cray, which I have to say is surprising.  23% backed Karolina Kurkova, and 20% of you were rooting for fabulous dame Linda Fargo.  I personally voted for Florence Welch’s Alexander McQueen.

Meanwhile, Ivanka Trump’s big bangs, which made their debut at the very same event, are prompting some debate.

It is to Emilio Flores’ eternal credit that I do not even NOTICE his ridiculous outfits in the first two sets for all the hotness.  Can you tell that I appreciate some good cheekbones?

But, here is a nice little tutorial from annaversary on how to make regular old metallic nail polish pop a bit more than normal.

Well, by that I mean the showing of the toes, anyway.

I’m really weird about toenail polish.  I tend to pick one color for the entire warm season and stick with it.  Probably because I’m too lazy to keep taking different ones off and applying new ones.  I know, pathetic.

Last year I chose a very bright, very vibrant grape-y, berry-y color.  I liked it, but I also noticed that a lot of the time, it clashed with the colors I was wearing.  Which bugged me because while I don’t necessarily want matchy-matchy, I also don’t want my toes to fight with my clothing and makeup.

So this year I’m looking for a more neutral pinkish mauve.  I need to start looking for it in earnest, as today it was 86 here, and tomorrow will be 84.

Now, onto even more celebrity judging…  Now I know the Met Gala is a chance for many to let go of more traditional fashion choices and be a bit more fanciful.  But that doesn’t mean we get to give up our gavels, does it?

Today’s appetizer is model Sean O’Pry.

And yeah, he’s modeling for the Hugo Boss collection, but I barely even noticed that the bag is bigger than his entire head and most of his uppper body.  That’s how good he is.

I am, perhaps, making up a term.

I don’t care.

I have never applied any type of eyeliner to the bottom inner lower lid of my eye.  It sounds like possibly one too many adjectives in that phrase, but I’m tired and I threw perfection out the window a very long time ago.

Side note, is it sad that my nine year old doesn’t really know what a thesaurus is?  I mean, yeah, he’s seen then a couple of times, but has never actually used one.  Ditto with encyclopedias.

Anyhoo, lining the bottom of the eye has been a trend for quite a while now, one that has gone in and out over time.

I’m firmly in the “out all the time” camp, however.

Firstly, it squicks me out.  I have contacts and I would fear for their contamination.  Secondly, I am of the personal belief that it actually makes your eyes look much, much smaller.  If that’s the look you’re aiming for, then have at it.

But, it isn’t for me.
