Hot Right Now: Here Kitty, Kitty
By GlindaI was present for the initial arrival of Hello Kitty on our shores.
Yes, I am that old.
While everyone else was sporting Hello Kitty (and Little Twin Star) pencil cases and lunchboxes, I failed to be impressed. My third grade self was certain that this whole Japanese cartoon craze was a flash in the pan. So much so that when my mom offered to buy me a Hello Kitty lunchbox, I stuck with my metal one depicting mathematical measurements. NO, I WASN’T A NERD. I swear.
Sanrio certainly has had the last laugh, as Hello Kitty has gone on to become one of the most iconic characters in the world. And even though it still isn’t really up my alley, I would be remiss if I did not point out that Sephora has released an exclusive, Doll up for a lot less with Sephora’s new Sale picks!brand new collection with Hello Kitty. It features everything from lip balm to fragrance. Here are a few things from that collection that look interesting to me.
All right, I admit I’m kind of a sucker for the packaging on this one.
Working off the same concept as NARS The Multiple, I might be tempted to try it.
Hello Kitty Brush Set with Collectible Container
IF I was a Hello Kitty fan, I would not be able to resist that container. Even as someone who is not a fan, it is extremely cute. The brushes supposedly suck, though.
Are you a Hello Kitty fan? And would you be willing to purchase these to fulfill your cute requirement?

Nevermind the quality of the brushes… that pink ombre thing they have going on will only look good until you actually, you know, *use* the brushes. Not to mention make it hard to evaluate how much product you have on there, etc. Cute, but definitely not practical. I’m sad to hear the brushes are poor quality, though, since I’ve generally been pleased with Sephora’s line of brushes.

I am intrigued by the lip balm and cheek stuff. I have a Sephora gift card that I haven’t used, but don’t know if I want to pull the trigger on these items yet.

I actually got in on the Hello Kitty pre-launch at Sephora, and have been using some of their stuff since just before Christmas. And it’s actually pretty good – the things that I have, at least.
I bought the sweet gloss, and it’s actually really moisturizing and softening on my lips. The color is super-sheer – it’s still a gloss, not matter how lip-stick-y it looks – but I love it a great deal.
The other piece I got was their eyeshadow (I can’t remember the cutesy name they gave it), and it’s actually one of the best eyeshadows I can remember using. The color’s good – it says it’s a lavender, and it is. Not a plum, or a grape, but a soft, pretty, girly lavender. Sparky without being “whoa, who attacked her with glitter), and it LASTS. I put it on at the start of an eight hour shift just before Christmas (and since I work in retail and was closing, it was closer to a nine hour shift) and it hadn’t moved all night. Awesome.
In short, I have bought it, and it seems to be good stuff. The packaging on a lot of the stuff isn’t overly cutesy (I don’t feel bad, as a 27-year old, to pull the gloss out of my purse in the company of other adults), so . . . they get my vote.

Not a hello kitty fan, but that lip balm is a very pretty corally color

I don’t get the Hello Kitty phenomenon so I won’t be buying any of these silly-looking objects…

A Hello Kitty toaster? Yes. Those Hello Kitty brushes? No.
