Monday Beauty Poll
By GlindaLast week I wanted to know what your favorite special occasion hairstyle was, and 44% of you responded that it was basically your same everyday style, just with a bit more “oomph.” 21% go for curled and down, while only 5% do curled and up. 10% simply put their hair up, and 7% of you straighten your hair and leave it down. Me? If I’m feeling especially festive, I will break out the Caruso steam rollers (which are fab, by the way) and leave my hair down, which is it’s normal state when I’m not kid or baby-wrangling.
I’m in a state of shock over seeing my mom with black nail polish on her nails this weekend, courtesy of her 18 year old niece’s beauty stash. It’s shocking because she normally doesn’t even wear nail polish, and doubly shocking because my mother is about as trendy as Queen Elizabeth II.

I don’t polish my fingers (I’m a chef), I just buff them to make them shiny. Toes however, are a different matter. I count the days until I can get a nice pedicure (bliss!) and like a bold jewel tone.

For some reason I have serious nail OCD: one coat of Sally Hansen hard-as-nails base coat, two (or more, depending on opacity and desired effect) of color, and one coat (two if I’m wearing red) of Sally Hansen Diamond top coat. Every weekend it gets changed come hell or high water. I currently have 42 shades of polish, and per my husband I am no longer allowed in Walgreen’s unaccompanied because I cannot leave without at least one color. My fave manufacturer of color is Clarins; that stuff is like painting on iron – even the reds don’t “edge” off. Otherwise I’m as happy buying Wet ‘n’ Wild as OPI. My toes, however, are NOT pedicure-worthy so I keep them trimmed very, very short and just sortof pretend they’re not there.
