Monday Beauty Poll

By Glinda

It was quite close, but SWINTON! won out over Angelina, with 58% to her 41%.  I think it was an awfully hard choice, actually, but I probably would have chosen Angelina just because she doesn’t normally look so great on the red carpet and she was throwing some serious face in that photo.  But my love for SWINTON! is undying.

I got a Sephora gift card for Christmas (surprising to no one) that is just sitting in my purse.  I’m thinking that instead of being all level-headed and practical, I’m going to throw caution to the wind and use the entire balance to completely splurge on one or two items.

My hair has been completely silver for almost 25 years now. It’s the first thing people notice about me and random strangers will comment on it. So I keep it trimmed (it’s pretty short) and use specific products (it’s curly, too!) and shampoos made for white/silver/gray hair. I refuse to do the blue-haired old lady thing and also refuse to do the yellowed-from-hard-water thing.

I drop serious dime on skin cream and hair care. Sephora has a 20% off special sometimes (last was in November) that or a gift card helps defray cost. Btw, La Mer is awesome, I use it about 2x month after hair removal or around my eyes when they feel particularly bad. Used sparingly, the jar will last for a year.

I can’t answer that one because there isn’t just one beauty product I don’t mind splurging on. I don’t mind splurging on any beauty product. I live to splurge on beauty products.

For me beauty gift cards are license to splurge. I like the whole idea of them as “splurge money”. I like to keep mine in my wallet and on days when I feel like treating myself or just picking up my mood, I’ll remember they’re in there and go in to the store to see if there’s anything in particular that I want. Sometimes I’ll spend a little and save the balance for another day, sometimes I’ll spend it all on something I’d probably never get for myself for reasons that just don’t matter at that point.

I hope you get a thrill splurging with yours!
