Tuesday Beauty Poll
By GlindaWhat can I say? My computer hates me.
Apologies for the absence, and regular posting commencing in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…
47% of you hated Amanda Seyfried’s choice of bright orange lip color, 28% loved it, and 23% felt her lips belonged at an event called Electric Daisy Lollapalooza instead of an award show. I was actually sort of ambivalent about them. Her makeup was very well done, and I almost kind of liked how much her lips popped. But, orange!
Ah well, it’s just lip color, is it not?
Summer is already here and I want to know all about your relationship with self tanners…

Legs only for me and that only in the summer when they’re on display. Which reminds me…got a wedding coming up in two weeks so I’d better get started.

With a natural skin tone best described as “fish belly”, and a scary brush with skin cancer, I rely on self tanner to achieve a little color. The amount and technique vary, but if I didn’t use it, I would throw off a glare in direct sunlight.

I have Klee’s blue-white skin, melanoma in my family, and I, like Carol, would like to self-tan on my legs, BUT…every self-tanner I’ve tried (and I have tried many) reeks to the heavens. Can’t abide the stench, so I don’t use them. Anyone have any suggestions for a self-tanner that doesn’t make skunks flee in horror?

Sasha, I use KMart’s Equate – works pretty well and I only really smell it at night when I lotion up before bed. I’ve tried the L’Oreal gel version also. It has a bit more scent and I had more trouble with that one streaking. In a pinch, I’ve also used Sally Hanson’s leg makeup spray with great results, but that’s a one-night and wash it off product.

@carol: I’m using St Tropez mousse right now, and very pleased with the lack of stench. It is rather sheer, I either brush a shimmer powder over it or sometimes shimmer oil. I’ve heard some people recommend Sally Hansen air brushed legs over it but I haven’t tried it yet.
L’Oreal is owned by Lancome, and I swear their drugstore tanners are just as good as lancome more expensive brand. They have a nice shimmer for the legs. (I find a little shimmer looks better on the legs without going too dark).
When my legs need more moisture, Clarins makes a rich self tanner called delicious. It has a lot of cocoa butter, which drowns out the tanner smell. If you live in a dry climate, I would recommend this one.

Thank you, ladies, I’m on my way to the store!

@Klee, your description made me snort. Very apt.
I’m not *quite* so transluscent, but I do get to be “fair” and nearly any tanner/bronzer just makes it look as though I need a bath.
