Manolo for the Beauty

I was going to write a title that was a bit racier, but decided to go the more demure route.  Which is probably really stupid of me, because a slightly lascivious title would actually bring in more people from Google.   Perhaps, though, not the kind of people who would be interested in this site, so most likely all for the better.

What was I saying?

Oh, yes, Kate and her new bangs.

Not that she cares one whit what I have to say about them, but I’m going to have to go with a thumbs down.  She still has gorgeous hair, no doubt.  But it seems to me that if you are going to commit to layering, then you also need to shorten up the overall length unless you are going to do layers all the way through.  From the pictures I’ve seen, she just has the very wide gap between her bangs and the end length, which just looks awkward.

Also, I think the barrel curls are so not helping.

Your verdict?

Due out in January, Lancome gives us a sneak peek at their “In Love” collection.

Loving the eyeliner, which if Emma is any indication, looks fantastic on brown-eyed women.

Also loving the lipstick, which I would like to have on my lips right now.

Not loving, however, the weird highlighting on Emma’s poor cheek.

From here on the hot and dry West Coast, it was difficult to get a true understanding of the effects of Hurricane Sandy on millions of East Coast and Midwest residents. But in looking at pictures of the cleanup and hearing about those that lost their lives, I am sending all the positive vibes possible in an easterly direction.

Now, to keep your mind off of things…

Mariah Carey and OPI got together for a new collection of nail polishes, four of them being a new “sand” formulation that looks like, ah, sand on your nails. Sand with a little bit of glitter.

Last week’s poll found that the majority of you, 47%, disliked the term “witchy poo” when it came to describing long, gray hair. I would have to agree.  29% felt that it wasn’t a good look for someone over 40, while 22% disagreed.

Today I’ve got some Emmy beauty fails.

And scares all the little children.

I’m going to go out on a limb and tag this photo as the main inspiration behind Kim’s look for a photo shoot:

I’m sorry, but Miss Diana has more talent and fierce diva-liciousness in her pinky toe than Kim Kardashian could ever hope to have.

Let us pray that Kim’s published photos are in black and white, for the sake of everyone’s retinas.

65% of you felt that Rachel Bilson’s attempt at a different hairstyle was a big flop.  25% were confused as to exactly what kind of hairstyle it was, and the rest of you were split at 4% each for fab and confusing.  Alert to celebrities, if the public does not know what the heck you have done with your hair, you should either hire a stylist or fire your stylist.

Today I came across the above picture of the lovely Queen Latifah on a “worst” celebrity list for her lack of eye makeup/sufficient lip color at a birthday party.   It was a BIG birthday party, but still just technically a birthday party in the heat of August.

But it seems Kelly Osborne does!

I find it…disturbing.

Last week’s question about freckles found that 32% of you have and are (at the minimum) OK with your freckles, while 4% of you have them and are not.  52% do not have freckles are are fine with that situation, and 10% don’t have them but wish they did.  I do not have any freckles, at least not any that are clustered.  I think that I have various freckles scattered around due to sun exposure, but not in a concentrated area.

Today, I’m all about voting on a celebrity hairdo! Or hairdon’t, however you see fit.

OK, fine, maybe it is a micro-trend.

But is it just me or is the fuzziness/unkempt nature of the braids kind of wrong?

To me, the best thing about braids is the smooth, shiny quality of them.

I especially loathe Blake Lively’s fishtail braid, which looks like someone combed it with a pasta grabber.

I know, I know.  It’s just me.

I know that The Boss just expressed his displeasure at the whole Instagram thing, but this photo?
